What Makes Us Different

Why pay more in the U.S. when you can get world-class results in Cali, Colombia?

Facelift

Facelift surgery, or a rhytidectomy, is designed to restore a more youthful appearance by removing major wrinkles and sagging skin. The surgical procedure involves tightening of the facial and neck muscles as well as removing excess skin.

Breast Augmentation

Breast enlargement, or augmentation mammoplasty, enhances the body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her small breast size.

Other purposes of this procedure include:

  • To correct reduction in breast volume after pregnancy.

  • To balance a difference in breast size.

  • As a reconstructive technique following breast surgery.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction offers much hope for a woman losing her breast to cancer. Reconstruction can often be performed immediately after the mastectomy, so the woman does not have to live without her breast(s). However, in some instances – based on the patient’s health and treatment plans – some mastectomy patients must wait before undergoing reconstructive surgery. In either case, reconstructive surgery holds much promise that the post-operative breast can match the natural breast again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Home Care Instructions after a Facelift

After your surgery, you must have someone drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours. Initially you will have a large dressing wrapped around your head. You may have surgical drains attached to bulbs hanging at your neck. These will be removed in approximately 24 hours. Stitches around the ears will be loosened or removed in a few days. The scalp sutures will be removed in seven to ten days.

To minimize scarring, the doctor may remove your sutures in stages. Scarring fades quickly. Swelling and discoloration decrease within two weeks. Tightness in your face will be present for several weeks, and there may be slight changes in your hair pattern around the incision.

We recommend that you avoid the sun for several weeks after surgery.

Q:

Breast Augmentation Post Operative Care

You will have some upper body restrictions immediately post-op. During the first six weeks after surgery, you must wear a bra at all times (except when showering). Avoid heavy lifting for four to six weeks. Moderate exercise, such as walking or stationary biking, is allowed after two weeks. Vigorous exercise, such as jogging or aerobics, may be resumed at six weeks. You will most likely be able to return to work within a few days, but you will need to avoid any strenuous activity for at least four to six weeks.

Body

Abdominoplasty or "Tummy Tuck"

Abdominoplasty, or a “tummy tuck,” is designed to correct a protruding abdomen resulting from weak abdominal muscles, weight gain, or pregnancy. These conditions may not respond well to diet or exercise if the skin and underlying muscles have been stretched, resulting in loss of elasticity.

With abdominoplasty, often the abdominal wall muscles are tightened, and excess fatty tissue and skin are removed to improve the body contour. The goal is a narrower, flatter abdomen. Realistic expectations are important and it important for patients to understand that abdominoplasty is not a substitute for weight loss.

Dr. Cuello considers all variables when evaluating a candidate for this procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

How is the procedure?

Abdominoplasty is performed using general anesthesia. The surgery may take two to five hours, depending on your overall condition. After surgery you may be released in a few hours, or you may desire an overnight stay.

Q:

Recovery: What to Expect?

Following surgery, you may experience some discomfort that can be controlled with medication. Some swelling is normal. You will be given special instructions for showering and changing your dressings. Most sutures used are self-dissolving. You may also be required to wear a support garment.

The speed of recovery depends on your physical condition prior to surgery; patients with stronger abdominal muscles usually recover faster. You should allow at least two to four weeks to recuperate before returning to work.

Some scarring is normal and usually takes nine to twelve months to fade.

Though the tummy-tuck recovery period is longer compared to other cosmetic procedures, the rewards are great for a patient previously distressed by a protruding abdomen. Patients who follow a proper exercise routine and healthy diet will benefit from abdominoplasty the most.

Biopolymer Removal Surgery

Biopolymer removal surgery involves surgically excising or "debulking" areas where non-biocompatible, synthetic fillers (like silicone, cement, or other materials) have been injected, often to address complications like pain, scarring, or infection.

Biopolymers are synthetic, permanent fillers that are not naturally found in the body and are not biocompatible. They can be injected to increase volume in various areas, sometimes in illegal "plumping parties".

Patients have had biopolymers injected into various areas, including buttocks, hips, inner and outer thighs, hands, lips, cheeks, and calves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Why is removal needed?

While initially appearing to provide desired results, these fillers can cause long-term problems like heaviness, pain, skin discoloration, infection, scarring, and even general illness. The body's immune system may react negatively to the foreign material.

Q:

What does the surgery involve?

The surgical approach varies depending on the location and the extent of the filler material and the surrounding tissue.

  • Liposuction: In some cases, small cannulas can be used to remove the filler material.

  • Open procedures: If the filler is encapsulated, open procedures may be necessary to remove both the material and the capsule, using hidden incisions.

  • Debulking: Large bore liposuction cannulas can be used to "debulk" the area, softening it and potentially improving symptoms and appearance.
